Womanhood

I don’t know if it’s a part of growing old or just doing a bunch of inner work, but embracing the femininity has to be one of the best things any woman can do for themselves. And I’m not talking about bubble baths and pink pillows.

I’m talking about appreciating the fact that being a woman is powerful, that finding your power is the most illuminating experience one can have. Also, it’s about appreciating other women and not seeing them as a threat in any way. I know I can appreciate other woman for her beauty, her charisma and her energy and that doesn’t make me any less charismatic, any less beautiful. I think this is how we can heal the world and heal other women too.

I have always been a person who sees others beyond their looks, because what I truly appreciate in others is their nature, their energy and whether they are a good person or not. Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and colours. What they are trying to sell us is not just gender wars it’s also skin colour wars. And to top that of with misogyny and internalized misogyny many women show, is heartbreaking.

That’s why I like to defy the odds and believe that women are not wolves when it comes to the way we treat each other. I’d like us to stop setting standards for women, on how well you dress, how you put your make up on, what you eat and just tearing each other down, because what is the point? Most men already hate women, and we are already fighting with them for basic human decency, why on Earth should we work against each other instead of with each other? We are already bombarded with so many products on how to preserve youth when there is wisdom and there is class in growing old and looking our age?

This is not intended to be a men hate post, but this is to empower women to be themselves unapologetically, to lift each other up, to stand together because this world needs us women to stand together and resurrect this world cause the world is in desperate need of mother care and you don’t need to be a mother to understand this. Every woman by design is a nurturer, every woman by design has empathy and a sixth sense for all sentient beings. We desperately need to decentre men and centre the well-being of every woman, every child and every animal, because look at what men are doing. Ruining the innocence, stealing and hurting others in the worst possible way. And there are some women who are complicit in these horrors. Women operating with the male brain. A “pick me” if you will.

It’s hard living a life intended for men, it’s hard being in all male environments. It left me depressed for so long, I was also operating from the male point of view, I spent way too much time with male friends, and I couldn’t understand why I was so out of touch with myself. I was supressing my femininity like it was a disease. It took me a very long time to get back in touch with myself. I was one of the women who had to “toughen up” as a defence mechanism because I was alone in another country trying to navigate my life.

Embracing who I am truly, embracing that I, as any other woman have enormous courage to live my life the way I want it to, to chase my dreams and not be scared is so healing. Embracing other women, embracing their energies and understanding that we are all experiencing life in our unique ways opened my eyes so much. Complimenting other women from the heart is a wonderful experience, because we are so used to being mean to each other, experiencing hidden envy wrapped in compliments, experiencing bullying and pain. I believe with my entire heart that women are uniting, at least energetically we are preparing for something bigger. Men can either follow us or be left behind, because we do not care. The real ones will walk side by side with us.

I love being a woman. I never felt unsafe when I’m among women. So, let’s continue lifting each other up and here is to healthy connections we make with each other. This is what feminism is about.
